Update: 10 posts too late

Channel surfing, watching the news, movies, dreaming...trying to keep myself busy doing the things I love. My being a loner always makes me happier doing things by myself. Boring? Well, being with a lot of people doesn't always make me feel better.

After my previous post, I could hardly type a word to start creating a new one. I swear, the backspace on my keyboard is already overused.

Anyway I now take comfort with the fact that a lot of people here do care. The advices, although given virtually are very heart warming.

Thanks to everyone.

I was halfway done with a post when I saw an update about the missing Ces Drilon and crew at the Philippine Star the other day. I went through the comment section and I was surprised to see unsympathetic remarks for Ces Drilon, mostly because she’s from the Kapamilya network. How silly. If say, Jessica Soho is also missing in Sulu, I wouldn’t go online and posts nasty comments about her because I am a Kapamilya. Being abducted by some terrorists is a no joke. I was particularly shocked by this one:

If you don't have a magnifying glass handy and too lazy to double click, here's an enlarged screen shot:

Too blurry? It says:

"Yabang mo kase Ces! Dapat lang sa iyo yan. Gusto mo kaseng maka scoop para maunahan mo ang siete. Ngayon ikaw ang headline.

Gahasain nyo yan!!!!!"

I admit I also curse a lot but this is something that I'd never wish to happen to anyone.

Whoever djangopool99 is, I hope she/he doesn't have a mother, a sister, a female relative or friend.

I checked the website 3 hours later and the comment is still there. Looks like the Philippine Star moderators are not reading their disclaimer and feedback policy.

Too crass of that commenter.

As regards the abducted people, I just hope they're safe and released soon. Nagtratrabaho lang naman ang mga yun.

alam mo, ayaw ko din si ces. pero i don't think its even humane na magcomment ng ganun... tsktsk!!!

well, the comment could also be a ploy to rally people and leave more comments dahil na-ignite sila. di kaya?

Nay Belen, tama po kayo, walang puso kung sino man siya...

abaniko, one has been released. Hopefully Ces and the other crew will be released unharmed too.

wandering commuter, tnx! I like her, and even if i don't like her, i won't give a comment like that.

This is what our freedom has given us - the liberty to be rude, callous, insensitive! Some dimwits are just plain irresponsible, they deserve being thrown to Mars!

that comment about Ces Drilon should have NOT been posted. it's uncalled for and it lacks sense.

Hi Ely : ) There are really insensitive, calloused and heartless human beings out there...

Ely, what if during the Peninsula Siege, the reporters who went the extra mile to provide news were used as hostages, how would the people react?

Would people show sympathy to them for being heroic or condemn them at sasabihin ng tao na buti nga kasi nakikisawsaw sa gulo na pwede namang magreport sa labas bat pa nila kailangang pumasok, naging pabigat pa tuloy sila?

My cousin and I bickered aboud it. hahaha.. but we're in good terms again.

Ambo, hindi kita pipigilan, ok lang yan. kasi ako din eh, hehehe

some people are just plain rude and inconsiderate. sana kung wala syang masabi, di na lang sya nagsalita.

anyway, i hope u don't mind if i added your blog to my blogroll. :) i just did. hehehe..

hi Chres, i think people just don't understand the role of media people sometimes. Their job often put them into risky situations like this...siguro pag nangyari un sa Peninsula Hotel, may negative reactions pa rin.

balot, i'd love to add u here, but u did not provide a link...

I am NOT sorry for what happened to Ces Drilon. First of all, ABS-CBN has proven that it has no concern for its journalists. This is not an isolated case.

Secondly, even if there are no signs of clear and present danger from the Abu Sayyaf, the abduction of Ces Drilon advertised worldwide that the Philippines is not safe for journalists. Yes, the Abu Sayyaf group posts a threat to security, but they're just there in Mindanao. If you don't do anything to them, they won't nudge.

What she did reminded me of what evangelist Wilde Almeda did several years back. But in the end, who came out silly--Ces, and her pityful network that's solely after the ratings.

@ 4ever7.

Network matter na ata to. hehehe well, di rin naman ako die hard fan ng ABS. But generally, its a good decision as ABS-CBN had repeatedly said they would not pay ransom that because to secure also the other journalists in the next few days after the release of Ces to be abducted again by the abbu sibuyas(Ü). And i think nasa rules and regulations yan nila even to other networks. Its not about money but security. So i think they're much concerned!

4ever7, Ces herself apologized for what happened. She admitted she also broke some rules. Blame her or the network, for me that's not the issue anymore. It's about people who go online and post harsh comments like the one i posted above. I mean, it's ok not to be sorry for her, but to wish something like "rape her" is way too inhuman.

fern, whether the ransom money came from ABS or not, for me it doesn't matter anymore, lets leave that to the authorities, as long as all three are already safe.
